Mikolaj Konarski
Personal stuff:
- Here is my old home page, from the times I was a young programming languages theoretician endlessly expanding my Ph.D. and teaching at MIMUW.
- Now, I'm an engineer using all those space age programming ideas and tools in industry (alongside the common, steam era tools).
- Over a decade ago I've started believing in God's love towards me, thanks to the Charismatic Renewal in the Roman Catholic Church. Wild ride.
Assorted stuff:
- I'm just founding a start-up funktory.com.
- I don't like how LinkedIn rules over my personal data, but the idea to trick people into writing sensible CVs is brilliant --- each of my previous CV writing attempts ended up a hippie manifesto. Here is my LinkedIn page: http://www.linkedin.com/in/MikolajKonarski.
- My Google profile.
- My recent hobby hacking at github.
- The garden of unwritten (or unfinished) papers.
- How to trick Gmail to become a mail archive, without looping forwards.
- A sketch of quadtrees in OCaml by Sebastian Kaczanowski and me (also with bits of Angband in OCaml; I'd like to rewrite this in Haskell, with yet another flavour of turn-based movement, suited for squad control).
- Categorical formalization of Darcs is a lot of fun, but the system is too complex for a hobbyist like me. Instead of formalizing the principles embodied in the code, it might be easier to rewrite the code to fit a nice rounded theory, which seems to be what Camp attempts (not in category theory, though).
- Crazy ideas to explore (if you try them first, please let me know!): Curry-Howard isomorphism extended to music (e.g., melody as proof and harmony as type). I wonder how my compiler code would sound... Another crazy one to do with the isomorphism: AI singularity via Coq tactics (ab)used to modify programs.
- Favourite software: Debian GNU/Linux, Emacs, Wikipedia, LaTeX, IceWeasel, WordNet.
- Favourite games: UnAngband (WIP), Freeciv, FreeCol (WIP), The Ur-Quan Masters, UFO:Alien Invasion (WIP), The Battle for Wesnoth, LambdaHack (WIP).
- Favourite publication.
- The photo is from 2007, with Marcin, Marzena, Ilona and me (Nikodem is lurking) after crossing a Polish desert. Yeah, we have one, just like we have a single sea island. The desert is quite large, but a bit overgrown, except for the place just around us, which is kept clean thanks to SUV races. The sea island is not quite yet sinking (courtesy of Tomek Szymanski, with whom, and Miriam, we went in 2008 to check it out).
